We received about thirty butterfly larvae about two weeks ago.  Now, the larvae have moved into chrysalises.  We can't wait until they emerge as beautiful painted lady butterflies!

This is our butterfly net.

Our butterfly larvae arrived like this.

Each student in our class has a larva!

Our larvae were kept on our bookshelf.

They were busily spinning silk for their chrysalises!

Here are some of our chrysalises.

We have many more hanging in our net.

Here is one of our butterflies!

Notice the beautiful colors that it has.

Our butterflies enjoy getting food from oranges.

The red that you see is the pigment that gives color.
